tour Kathmandu then fly to Pokhara to begin one of the world's classic
and most spectacular treks: 17 days on the trail into the mighty mountain
cirque of the Annapurna Sanctuary and along the Kali Gandaki Gorge
to the Dhaulagiri Massif and Jomsol. This Nepalese Himalayan stretch
is scenically unforgettableMachhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna
South, Nilgiri and other dramatic peaks scrape the heavens in all
directions. Gurung Buddhist villages along the way are cultural gems.
No trek on earth permits such dramatic mountain encounters at such
moderate elevations combined with such extensive enroute support.
Thanks to the infrastructure that has sprung up along the route in
the past ten years, the trek can be made in considerable comfort,
with overnights in small guesthouses and meals taken in teahouses
along the trail. Our team scout jumps ahead each day to secure the
best accommodations for the upcoming night, and the best meal services.
Trek elevations range between 8,000' and 12,000' with 5 to 6 hours
of walking each day. Porter-supported and Sherpa-guided, only daypacks
with camera, water, and personal items need be carried. Return to
Kathmandu by air from Jomsom. Lodgings along the trail are small basic
inns, and meals are taken in teahouses along the way. No camping is
necessary for this high-country trek. |
