1 (Rendezvous Day):
Group members arrive Capetown throughout the day. Afternoon at leisure
and night in Capetown.
Day 2:
Up by cable-car to the top of Table Mountain in A.M.
for walks to overlooks. City & waterfront tour in afternoon; drive
to Paarl
in Cape
Winelands for the night.
Day
3: Tour the Cape wine estates and picnic at Boschendal Estate.
Coast
drive
along Indian Ocean shore to Hermanus for the night.
Day
4:
Whale-watching boat trip in A.M. and cliffside walks to observe
Southern Right Whales close to shore. Visit Fernkloof Fynbos Reserve
to see protea at peak of bloom. Drive to Gaansbai for night.
Day
5: Depart
Kleinsbaai Harbor by boat for Great White Shark cage dive and/or
topside
shark viewing. Cruise
among thousands of Cape Fur Seals off Dyer Island. Return overland
to Capetown for night.
Day
6 Fly to Durban; visit Indian and Zulu markets. Drive through
Valley of 1000 Hills to the Drakensberg escarpment, a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. Night at South Africa's most famous horse farm and
stud.
Day
7: Early morning drive and hike to reserved blind at Giant's
Castle to observe Lammergeier Vultures feed at close quarters. Hike
Bushmen's River to ancient San rock art. Drive north along escarpment
to Bergville for night.
Day
8: In the Drakensberg. Hike to upper reaches of Tugela Falls
atop the Drakensberg Amphitheater, the world's second-higest falls
during the rainy season. Drive north; near Harrismith for the night.
Day
9: Early departure overland for Johannesburg, and fly to
Kruger Mpumalanga Internatl Airport (KMIA) near Kruger National
Park. Transfer overland to safari lodge in Sabi Sand Reserve on
Kruger's SW border. Afternoon game drive and night at lodge.
Day
10: Morning and afternoon game drives plus Ranger-led bush
walk. Night
at lodge.
Day
11: Morning
game drive followed by bush walk. Return overland to KMIA and fly
to Johannesburg for the night.
Day
12: Time permitting, tour Johannesburg's gold-mining legacy
in A.M. Homeward-bound flight departures later in the day. Calidex
"Capetown to Kruger National Park '06" comes to a close.
